Welcome to the Team Courtney Porter

Help us welcome Courtney Porter, a Dallas native, to the Stutsman Logistics team! Courtney’s roots and motivation for transportation stem back to her grandparents being truck drivers. In her 17-year career in the industry, she has spent 10 years in sales, five years in marketing and three years in leadership.

As the new Stutsman Logistics senior sales and marketing manager, Courtney is responsible for prospecting, client meetings, coordinating with the marketing team, marketing campaign management, communications, market research, value proposition development and administrative tasks. When Courtney is not developing relationships with customers, you can find her gardening, cooking, baking, painting, reading, hiking and playing board games with her family.

What are you most excited for in your new job?

I am most excited about the opportunity to Take the Lead in helping develop and implement logistics’ marketing strategies, particularly in bringing brand awareness to Stutsmans within logistics. This, I believe, will have a profound impact on our sales, as a stronger brand presence can open new doors and opportunities for growth. What I find most rewarding is the chance to Instill Authenticity and build lasting relationships with customers, fostering trust and collaboration that goes beyond the traditional client-provider dynamic. It’s in these genuine connections and delivering transportation solutions that exceed expectations I find the most satisfaction, knowing I’m contributing to the continued success and vitality of both the company and the nation. Moreover, I can’t wait to share the news of our brand’s growth and success with new and prospective clients, as it’s a testament to our commitment to excellence and innovation in the industry.

Who has influenced your career the most?

The most influential figure in my career journey has undoubtedly been my Grandmother. Her impact is immeasurable. She was not only an Over-the-Road (OTR) truck driver for over 30 years, a trailblazer in her own right, but she also made a significant transition into human resources for major transportation companies. Her determination to be present with her grandchildren as we were growing up speaks volumes about her character. What’s truly inspiring is that she achieved all of this as a woman in the transportation industry back in the 60s, a time when it was an even more formidable challenge. Her unwavering commitment to balancing a demanding career with being a caring grandmother has served as a profound example to me. She demonstrated that it is possible to excel in a challenging industry, break barriers, and simultaneously prioritize family and the nurturing of the next generation, a lesson I carry with me in my own career and life journey.

If you had to be a product that you work with, what would it be?

If I had to be a product that I work with, I’d choose to be a well-worn, handcrafted leather-bound journal. This journal would symbolize my passion for storytelling, whether through my work in the transportation industry or my artistic pursuits. Each page would be filled with experiences, lessons and the rich narratives of the people I’ve met along the way. Just as a journal holds the stories of those who pour their hearts into it, I treasure the connections, traditions and values that define me. I believe that much like a journal, I’m here to capture and celebrate the diverse experiences life has to offer and to make a meaningful record of the journey I’m on.

What is something random that most people don’t know about you?

I can play the piano by ear, a skill I’ve cultivated over the years. It’s a unique facet of my life, allowing me to spontaneously create music and express myself in an unexpected way. Beyond my musical pursuits, I’ve also delved into the world of art, participating in local competitions, and have been fortunate to secure several prizes for my work. This artistic passion adds another layer to my identity, complementing my career in the marketing aspect of the transportation industry.

What is the best advice you have ever been given?

The most inspiring advice I’ve ever received comes from Theodore Roosevelt’s timeless 1910 speech, “The Man in the Arena.” In this stirring message, he champions the spirit of daring greatly and taking action, emphasizing that it’s the individuals who strive, even when faced with setbacks and challenges, who truly make a difference. This invaluable advice was passed on to me by a mentor, and it has become my guiding light. It encourages me to step into the arena of life with unwavering determination, embracing every challenge and opportunity with enthusiasm and confidence. Roosevelt’s words inspire me to be the author of my own journey, to be unafraid of failures and to always be the one making a difference in the world. It’s a philosophy that fuels my passion and resonates with the core values I hold dear.

What is on your bucket list?

Travel to my ancestral homelands in Scotland, Northwestern Europe, Sweden and Denmark, and participate in some of their traditional festivals. I’d also like to own a plot of land, grow a family garden and sell homemade jams and freshly laid eggs. Lastly, write a family memoir, publish a book and travel cross-country through America.

What is your proudest accomplishment?

My proudest accomplishment, without a doubt, is motherhood. It’s the role that has not only tested and shaped me in countless ways but has also filled my life with an immeasurable amount of joy, love and purpose. The journey of guiding and nurturing my two sons through life’s ups and downs has been incredibly rewarding. Witnessing their growth, witnessing their milestones, and being a source of love and support for them is an honor I treasure. Motherhood has taught me patience, resilience and the true meaning of unconditional love. It remains the most fulfilling and cherished aspect of my life.

Which Stutsman Core Value means the most to you?

From my perspective, Take the Lead truly encapsulates me because it signifies my proactive and resolute approach to embracing my family’s heritage while actively contributing to the success of our nation through my career in the transportation industry.
