Welcome to the Team Darren Basicker
A native of Knightstown, Indiana, Stutsman Logistics’ senior sales executive brings 31 years of logistics experience with him. Darren attended Ball State University to get his bachelor’s degree in marketing. Before joining our team, Darren worked for C.H. Robinson and spent over 25 years in sales. Darren looks forward to helping Stutsman Logistics grow by developing relationships with new customers.
Darren’s wife, Dawn, has been a health/PE teacher at Knightstown High School for 30 years. They have two dogs: Honey Badger, a 13-year-old Australian/German Shepherd mix, and Pixie Stick, a 3-year-old French Bulldog who rules the roost. Darren and Dawn are passionate about helping kids. One way they do this is through funding and support for youth to participate in sports. They also like to travel and attend different sporting (basketball, football, etc.) venues across the country. During the summer, Darren can often be found at the golf course during his free time.
How did you get involved in the logistics industry?
Logistics was not a trendy word when I started back in 1993, but it helps you understand a lot more about how companies truly operate. What interested me was learning how companies operate and how logistics impacts those companies across multiple departments.
Who has influenced your career the most?
Mostly the people who have provided feedback on business partnerships from their and their company’s perspective.
What is the best advice you have ever been given?
Work hard and the results will come.
What is something random that most people don’t know about you?
I collected sports cards, mostly from the late ’80s and early ’90s.
If you could snap your fingers and become an expert at something, what would it be?
Forecasting. It would allow me to be more proactive in getting in and out of business ahead of market turns.
What is on your bucket list?
Golfing in Ireland.
