Meet Lydia Judy: Logistics Intern

College is like a buffet that is filled with professional opportunities. You can try a little bit of everything, exploring different majors, internships and industries to find what best fits your strengths and interests.

Our newest logistics intern, Lydia Judy, applied for the role to gain hands-on experience in an industry she, like many people, hadn't been exposed to before.

In her role, Lydia communicates with carriers. She confirms load pickups, checks in throughout transit and helps make sure everything stays on track through delivery. Along the way, she keeps our system updated with shipment information and works with carrier managers to monitor load statuses so she can quickly flag any issues that arise.

Lydia says the experience has already given her more than just logistics skills.

"I have truly enjoyed this new experience and have learned so much from my mentors and teammates that I can use not just in my internship but in my personal life as well," she shared.

Lydia's Background

Lydia is a southeast Iowa native, growing up in Ottumwa and graduating from Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont. With an agricultural background, she fits right in with Stutsman's longstanding history in the industry.

Lydia grew up on a family farm with her parents, Tom and Molly, and her three older brothers, Lane, Lex and Lute. The family raises cattle to sell each spring. Through 4-H and FFA, Lydia has built her own cow herd and purchased a mare so she can raise and train colts to sell, carrying on the entrepreneurial spirit she grew up around.

Lydia's Next Steps

After completing her internship this spring, Lydia will graduate from Kirkwood Community College with an ag business degree.

We're glad she added logistics to her buffet plate and can't wait to see where her next steps take her.
